Windows activation for Non OEM : What is Win7 activation & SLIC Bios

Windows versions with activation

All end users of Windows 7, Vista XP ( from  except OEM licensing users eg:  Asus, Hp, Comapaq, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Sony, Samsung, Lenova, HP, Dell, Acer, IBM …must go through the activation process.

All end users of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, including corporate users, are required to activate. In addition, corporations have the option of setting up their own activation servers, which will activate a certain number of Vista installations without needing to connect to Microsoft.

Copies of Windows Vista and Windows 7 sold in certain countriy. classified as emerging markets are imposed with geographical activation restrictions, which only allow the user to activate the product within the indicated region. For example, products sold in Indonesia may be activated only within Indonesian territory or South-East Asian territory, depending on the label.

If Windows XP, Vista or 7 is preinstalled on a computer that was made by a OEM vendor, it is not necessary to activate. These installation images do not use the product key listed on the COA sticker on the machine. Rather, it uses a master product key called a System Locked Preinstallation (SLP) key which ties the activation to the machine’s manufacturer name as defined in the motherboard’s DMI pool. This ensures that the activation will only remain valid on motherboards which were supplied by that OEM.

How SLIC Bios Crack Work

PC/ Notebook from  branded manufacturers like Asus, Hp, Comapaq, Gateway, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Sony, Samsung, Lenova, HP, Dell, Acer, IBM all come with SLIC bios. SLIC bios  imprint their OEM information. SLIC bios technology is embedded in  PC/ Notebook bios. SLIC bios technology work when MS create Windows OS, MS just create a product key for each DVD that they are selling so that it can be installed only by the OEM PC/ Notebook buyer. In case of mass distrubution like Asus, HP, Lenova, Dell, Acer, they create a RTM copy so that the dvd that is sent to D will only work on dell machines only. Once again this is varified by the DVD from the BIOS of the compter which has the SLIC OEM infomation.

Vista was launched SLIC v 2.0 was created and all the laptops/Pc that hit the marked from a vendor came with that version. When people installed vista from the OEM DVD in the OEM machine they never asked for any product key and it was already activated BUT if the same DVD is used for installation in any other Pc (Non OEM) then it will ask for a product key and  need to activate the product within certain period . So the hacks that came out for Vista was a Bios emulator which actually emulated the Bios of a real OEM , and it used to load while booting and post boot the certificates used to pass thinking it was a OEM. That was SLIC 2.0. After MS came up with SLIC 2.1  means the laptops which has 2.0 will not install and activate DVDwith SLIC 2.1.
