Doing something to keep the brain stimulated during these travel hours will help keep yourself fresh and occupied. If you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS, having the following games will help you kill time in the best way. Here are the run down of the 10 best iPhone games to keep you entertain during these long and boring hours.
1) Cube Runner is a really cool game to have cause there are no missiles to shoot, no shooting at all but just only to dodge the cubes as long as possible. There is more variation to the same game with different levels of difficulty and you can even download packages with extra difficulties. Another cool feature is that you can change your view from portrait to landscape. Just make sure you don’t get carried away and annoy the people sitting nearby.
2) Tap Tap Revenge 2 is the sequel to Tap Tap Revenge and is a lot like Guitar Hero. You tap lights that coincide with little balls as it plays to a song. Just like Guitar Hero, this game is addictive, especially since it is on your phone and you can take it with you wherever you go. There is even a Lady Gaga version if that’s your fancy.
3) Enigmo is a game to get the flow of water or fire to their correct canisters to hold them. The game may be difficult at first but it gets easier once you get the hang of it and there are tools to help progress along the game. It will definitely help pass the long hour travel since there are 50 levels of play that continue to get more difficult.
4) UNO is a well known card game that families throughout the country play on family night and now it is available for iPhone. It is rather simple, as most know, but if you have not played the game all you do is match up like colors and/or numbers. If you cannot match your card up to the one previously played then you draw a card. If that card is something you cannot use, then you must continue to draw cards until a sufficient card is picked up. The first one to get rid of all their cards wins.
5) Boggle is a game where you have tiles of letters that get scrambled up and you simply touch the letters, they have to be touching each other in any direction, to make words. Make as many words as you can in the time allotted. You also have the option of making the grid bigger and changing the look of the tiles.
6) DeerHunter 3D is an arcade hunting game. It lets you track deer footprints on your GPS map and let you go in for the kill when in close proximity of the deer. You may unlock bonuses like scope for sniping your kill and keep steady your aiming shot using a Steady button. Its 3D environment provides a exciting experience to the game.
7) Fast & Furious follows the plot of the movie, starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. There are 36 cars in this game, most of it based from the movie. Games backdrop are set in cities of Los Angeles, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, the game features seven different race events, including a special tunnel jam which is pivotal in the film story plot. The game makes use of the “pink slip” system so winning races actually means something. If you put your car on the line and lose, your garage feels a little bit emptier.
Real Soccer 2009 is a soccer simulation game that defines the term pocket-size kickfest- incredible graphics, intuitive controls, and deep gameplay. With a number of weather conditions, stadiums, game-lengths, tournaments, and teams to choose from, Real Soccer 2009 is a must-have for any fan of the pitch. There are variations: tapping A and swiping upwards hits a lob shot, while doing the same for B hits a long pass. Holding B hits a through-ball on the ground, while tapping B then swiping left hits one in the air. Double-tapping B plays a one-two, and so on. Tricks are handled by tapping and dragging on empty areas of the screen, including a stepover, a ‘flip flap’, and a ‘Marseille Roulette’ (that one where you spin in a circle while dragging the ball under your foot, in true Zidane style). Oh, and you tilt the iPhone to take throw-ins – a neat touch.
9) Chess & Backgammom Classics is a two in one board games that will keep you occupied for hours during your long air flight. The usual rules applies but the fun part is that you can compete against a friend (on the same iPhone or iPod touch) in a two-player mode, and play past tournament games in a Classic mode. The game makes good use of the multi-touch interface – you can click on and drag pieces around. The addition of backgammon is a great diversion, and it increases the value of Chess Classics dramatically. It features many of the same capabilities and extras that you’ll find in Chess Classics, including a two-player mode and different challenges that help you test your skill.
10) Sudoku, no iPhone is complete without this little apps. It helps to simulate your brain and keeps boredom at bay. If you have not know that each Sudoku has a unique solution that can be reached logically without guessing. Enter digits from 1 to 9 into the blank spaces. Every row must contain one of each digit. So must every column, as must every 3×3 square. Check it out at Apps Store.
While all the above does kill time, a word of caution is that make sure you have enough juice in you iPhone for the whole travel duration. You don’t want to be without battery power and find that you can’t use it to make important calls. It is much better to bring along a back up battery pack to charge your iPhone. Otherwise, it is wise to take a few hours of shut eyes and or walk around to keep up blood circulation. If you have other suggestions, do post via comments.
