As we are aware of this that Android Market was attacked last week by a series of malicious applications. These were all legit apps which someone has modified to gather the personal information and send it back to some server in China. These Apps are also believed to track the specification of the device like code for identifying the particular device and also the version of OS running on it.
Google has been trying to clean the spree since the time this news has been revealed. According to the news on the Google’s official blog site, the company is taking all the necessary steps to keep all the devices protected which has downloaded this App. This Malware is supposedly to attack only the devices which are running below the version 2.2.2.

As a step towards the protection of the Android Market, Google has removed the entire malicious app from the market and have suspended the related developer’s account. The Android team is using the remote application removal feature to protect the affected handsets from any more damage. In order to stop the attackers from gathering any more information from the affected the devices, an Android Market security updated is being pushed to all the devices.
All the handsets which are being affected will receive a message through e-mail that “Android Market Security Tool March 2011” has been installed. After which within 24 hours the malicious app will be removed and the user will be notified with a second e-mail.
Google has also announced that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that no such apps will be put in the Android Market in future.
