Get Latest Ubuntu 9.04 – Jaunty Jackalope What?

Canonical have released the latest version of Ubuntu Linux i.e. Ubuntu 9.04 on 23rd April 2009.  Code named Jaunty Jackalope(I am sure don’t know what it means) which includes a few new features worth oogling - a revamped notification system, support for the Ext4 file system, and updated applications like Firefox 3 and OpenOffice.org 3.0.   Talk about immediate Plug and Play.

As mentioned in its press release, Ubuntu 9.04 should boot up faster(boasts as fast as 25 seconds) and feature faster switching in suspend-resume mode. The operating system can also intelligentlly switch between WiFi and 3G environments, therefore increasing the number of supported wireless device and 3G cards and subsequently delivering an excellent and smooth user experience.

The latest Ubuntu 9.04 comes in 3 different editions. There’s a server edition, a desktop edition, and a Netbook Remix edition that’s optimized for mini-laptops with Intel Atom processors and low resolution displays.   Once installed, there are no desktop icons, a default desktop theme that is very compatible with your eyes…yes, there won’t be any darn annoying green mounds only :)
