Many friends trying to prevent the iphone from trying to connect to EDGE or GPRS – totally blocking it from using anythign but wifi.3 Alternatives to disable IPhone GPRS, EDGE & 3G data charges

The Iphone will download data automatically by default. its annoying and costly. Lucky i found 3 alternatives to turn off/ disable IPhone GPRS, EDGE & 3G data charges.

Call your moble network operator to disable  GPRS/ EDGE /3G. However this is case to case basic, some operator may refuse your request. *take note that you could not receive MMS, online anymore too. this can help you save plenty of money epecially when you go oversea. (because iphone still downloading data eg AGPS, weather info.. without our knowledge and you will bear the data roaming charges.

* For MAXIS user : SIMPLY Cancel the Maxis 3G & GPRS Service by keyin *136*4# and press “dial” on your iPhone.

Remember that you may enable it again any time by calling your operator helpdesk.

Other alternative to disable IPhone GPRS, EDGE & 3G data charges (using third party software)

*you must Jailbreak your iPhone 1st then only you can have Cydia to install BossPrefs

1. download  BossPrefs from Cydia.

then you can

- turn off 3G (Disable this to save money)

- turn off  EDGE (Disable as well)

  1. go to Setting
  2. Then go to General
  3. go to Network
  4. now go to Cellular Data Network
  5. go into APN, fill in fake Username and Password
  6. restart Iphone
